Resembles the New England Aster, differing in it's somewhat crooked zig-zag stem. Stem sometimes purple/reddish but not always! The nectar and pollen of the flower heads attract a wide variety of insects, including honeybees and bumblebees. Photo credit: Rebecca Krawczyk.
