Prunus serotina


Black cherry trees produce small white flowers in the spring, then dark red cherries in the fall months. The bark on adult trees is dark and flaky, resembling burnt corn flakes. Berries are a favourite food for wildlife. Photo credit: Rebecca Krawczyk.
