Aptly named "staghorn" sumac for its young branches being velvety like the antlers of deer. Stunning red leaves in fall. Best known for its large clusters of flowers/fruits. Flowers/fruits start in June and keep their red colour over the winter. Useful for privacy borders, hedges of foliage, wildlife food, restoration of disturbed sites. Ripe (red) fruits can be steeped in water to make "lemonade" - can be referred to as "Ontario's lemon."
